Jejak Juara Kulinari PJB 2009

Finally i got time to update my blog.

I just wanna share the activities that our students organized last week, that was 'Jejak Juara Kulinari 2009', organized by the semester 6 students, taking the Hotel and Catering Course. Me and friend were there the whole day to give our full support to our students. Here goes some pictures that i took using my Sony Ericson mobile phone. (belum ada duit mo beli camera ba..)

Ragam kawan

At first i don't want to post this. And even if i post it, i don't want people to read it or comment it. I just need to say it out of my heart.

Its about a new friend that i knew since i work in Poli JB. Means i knew him (yes, a 'HIM')..for only 3 weeks. Remember that i stay with two other ladies frm Sabah in JB? I have no problem with the ladies as we are 'satu kepala'. But with this guy (not staying with us la), even he is nice and kind but still, there are lists of his attitude that i'm not really 'ok' with it. ( and in fact the two ladies friend also not 'ok' but they just pretend nothing serious happened).

This morning i talked to him about his -ve attitude that i (we) don't like. At first i want to make it as a joke but all of a sudden i got emotional and moody (err..perhaps my 'monthly guest' is about to come). He just smile and kept quiet like i say nothing! So egoistic la this guy!

okey, let me tell u other things about 'HIM' that i don't like:

1. When he come to our house for dinner, he usually let us wash his dishes. I thought, its only for sometimes basis but NO its everytime! (hello, you are not my husband, do not expect me (we) to layan u like our husbands! but unfortunately he did, does and doing!) But from today, i promise myself, i don't want to wash his dishes anymore)

2. When we go for shopping (barang-barang makan) he rarely offer help to carry the things we buy. (tau la we share beli, tapi pandai-pandai la tolong bawa ba, yang masak kami, dia tinggal makan, bukan berkira tapi sama2 jauh dari keluarga, pandai la bertolak ansur)

3. He wants us to follow his wants on certain things. (everytime kami jalan, kami jalan berempat but there was once he drove us to his uncle's house that he didn't say it clearly to us before departing. Adakah cam tu, whereas we wanted to go somewhere else.) Nasib la we dropped by to the place on the way back home.

There are some more but i think the 1st and 2nd are the most 'bikin panas' perasaan sa.

I just don't know how but, my two friends said 'memang begitulah sikap dia tu' (dorang da kenal si kawan lelaki ni (yang masih bujang tapi ada girlfriend) dekat 2 tahun sdh, mungkin dorang lebih bersabar daripada saya).

Apa yang saya perlu buat ialah saya akan BERSABAR saja la. Since dia salah seorang yang tolong sa semasa sampai di Poli JB.

..sigh..tak tau apa nak cakap.

I'm so tired!

Very busy lately. I didn't even had the chance to sit at my work desk yesterday. Having class from 8am-2.30pm and continued with the final examination question translation till 5pm.

Today early a.m, still need to continue because it wasn't done yesterday. I need to translate about 4o multiple choice questions and plus 4 essays. Luckily i share with 2 other lecturers. So, we do it together especially in finding the appropriate words to translate the Malay to English. Hmm..nevertheless, it is a new experience i gained here. The senior lects told me that we will be in the Lembaga peperiksaan for 3 years. Well, i expect more things to learn from this new task apart from teaching. A lot more to learn!

Today, i take time to open my blog and visit friend's blogs. Enjoy reading their posts and funny posts really made my day today..

Another task in my top list: checking and marking Laporan Latihan Industri pelajar. I have 1 report on my desk and another 3 coming tomorrow. Tebal2 lagi tu! After that i need to interview all 4 of them, one by one...ngenge..nda pa, senang saja itu. Aiseh..

Allright, i back to my work dulu ya. Mo jadi lecturer yang rajin. Ada markah tau kalau rajin, pas tu ble dikira untuk kenaikan pangkat. Aiseseh..mimpi sdh mo naik pangkat kunu sa ni..hehehe..

Highlight of this week

Huhh..finally weekend comes again and thanks God because i feel that time flies very very fast this week. I can say that this week is a STRESSING week. Its not because of the classes or the additional tasks that were given to me. Its all about the PEOPLE i work with!

Entah la. Sejak hari pertama lagi memang dah rasa sesetengah senior lecturers di jabatan ni seolah-olah nak kenakan staff baru ja. For them, there is always 'something wrong' with what we do. Padahal, semua yang kerja di sini berijazah dan ada yang ber'master' lagi. So, how come they treat freshies that way? Its so unprofessional and unsystematic somemore (in case of handing over the subjects to the freshies). However, its not really a matter. After sometimes, surely we would be able to do things without their help.

Okey la, just would like to share my conclusion of this week:

1. Kurang sudah sa nangis.

2. Tidak akan salah masuk tandas lagi sebab dorang dah lekat sign 'female staff only' dekat toilet pompuan.

3. Hafal sudah sikit2 jalan mo pigi supermarket: TESCO, ECONSAVE. Tempat kami beli ikan, sayur dan Maggie!

4. Baru dapat ganti kipas depan kami yang tu senior angkat pigi tempat dia. Sot kan, padahal itu kipas nda dia pakai sebab tempat dia kena aircon. Pandai2 dia pigi ambil yang tempat kami sedangkan tempat kami panas tahap cipan sudah ni nda kena aircon.

5. Perasan sudah, penunggang motosikal di sini suka memotong dari sebelah kiri. Kualiti jalan raya, lebih kurang cam d KK. (Kawasan Masai ja la. Nda tau lg tempat lain). JPJ pun nda da nampak batang hidung. Tu la pemandu2 tak ikut peraturan.

6. Security Guard di pintu masuk kolej sangat profesional. Dorang bertugas macam tu polis trafik di KK. Nda la duduk ja mcm tu security guard di KK.

Thats all. Tomorrow is the last day of Kite Festival, held at Bukit Layang-layang nearby our college. Planning to go there and also hope can shot some pictures.

Mix post

Rain inside the office

I visited Mixed Cultures Mama's Blog just now and read her 'scary' post. Something scaring also happen in JB last Monday. It was a sunny day early morning and suddenly came heavy rain with thunderstorm. When we arrived home in the afternoon, the big tree nearby our taman perumahan tumbang and one block got its roof terbang. Angin terlalu kuat kan, tu la bumbung block tu terbuka. Eii..bikin takut o. Dekat blok kami pun ada juga sikit2. Pecah dan terbuka.

However, we don't really care about what happening outside because what was happening inside our office was more interesting! The office ceiling is leak! (mcm salah grammar ja o kan) .The affected areas have to move thier work desk and cover their computer with plastic..adoii..kesian pla sa tengok..teda duit kerajaan ka ini mo repair..berbaldi baldi lg mau tadah tu air..lantai dilapis dengan newspapers. Luckily my work desk is not affected. So next when its raining, teda la sa hairan lg why baldi dah standby awal2 dekat ofis.

Toilet

Malunye saya..i went to the wrong toilet! This post is written right after the incident.Because i was too lazy to walk up to the toilet at the Administration Dept which is just 2 minutes walk frm my ofis, i went to the toilet nearby, which is actually toilet for my dept. From what i know, there are only 2 toilet for Hospitaliti dept. Before went inside, i've looked for the Male and Female sign as toilet usually have but there was no sign on the door or even on the wall. The first toilet do have the 'mangkuk tandas for lelaki' and can be seen fom outside. So, i confirmed that is for Male. The second one don't have. I confidentlly went inside because i'm sure that one is for female staff. I do what i need to do and opened door mau keluar. To my surprise, a male senior lecturer was washing his hands at the sink! Adoiii..i calmly and steadily asked..(Sabahan punya stail juga tau cara sa tanya). 'Alalala..'ncik, ini tandas lelaki ka? (sambil sia tersengih2 menahan malu, sdh nampak lelaki masih tanya lagi. Stupido tul sa rasa). He answered me: 'Ye, awak dah salah masuk tandas'..'Nasib sa tak tolak pintu tadi,' he added. Sambil tersenyum (kurang asam!)..So, i explained la kat dia (sempat lg explained a, bkn trus keluar) mcm mana sa ble tersesat kat situ...After that he showed me the toilet for female which is located just at the back of the male's toilet.

Adoihh..ni gara2 teda sign and sa tak tanya punya pasal la ni sia sesat. hampehh betul!

Kesian o kan..dia. Datuk kElizabeth Wong keat Ping. Ketua Penerangan PKR, Bt Lanjan, PJ. Tak pasal2 gambar dia separuh bogel etika tidur d rumahnya disebarkan d internet..(go to Berita Harian Online). Apa la nak jadi dengan politik di Malaysia ni. Nak jatuhkan orang lain sampai ke tahap mencemarkan nama dan maruah seseorang pemimpin politik. Orang tengah yang hanya mementingkan duit semata-mata, digunakan untuk melakukan perbuatan keji tersebut.

My point here, kejadian2 seperti ini boleh berlaku kepada sesiapa sahaja. Orang biasa seperti kita juga mungkin akan terkena. Seram sa mengingatkan hal2 begitu. Terutamanya bila kita di tempat orang. Palis2.

Budak Sabah

For all Sabahans who have been staying in Peninsular Malaysia for long time, this considered as nickname to Sabahan , "Budak Sabah" may not longer strange in your ears. But for me, i can't accept it. I gave the administration department of Poli JB a negative impression as they called me "Budak Sabah" on my very first day here. I really really can't accept it. Its sounds humiliating the Sabahans. Every time when i heard them talking to each other, they will say 'oh, budak sabah tu ye?'..whats their point actually? Mcm budak kampung betul ka orang Sabah samapai dorang refer kami mcm tu. Another strange thing that they ask when meeting Sabahan is "Agama apa?' If i am a Christian, so what? Is it really a matter for them to know about our religion..Haizz..so weird..and i don't like the weirdness of their attitude. If i have a chance, i'll ask them why the call Sabahan 'budak sabah'. I really want to know. But for now, i'll keep it in my heart first.

A busy Monday.

Its raining heavily right now here. Just finish my class of Restaurant Operation. Imagine from 8am till 4pm. But this class is amali, so cannot really feel it. Me assisting the senior lecturer observing and briefing the students about what to do in in the dining area and kitchen. Students are doing all the tasks from preparing and serving the food, and clearing the kitchen and dining area. Siok juga la..Dapat makan free. hihi..The restaurant open for the invited guests (the lecturers) at about 12pm till 2pm. The menu today is combination of the Western food and Malay food, Theme is 'Kasih Sayang' in conjunction with the Valentine's Day last Saturday. But i can't feel the 'Kasih Sayang' in the restaurant environment..hmm.nama juga pelajar kan, jadi tak kisah sangat la. At least they are practising all theories they've learnt in Sem 1 and 2. They are just lacking in effort and determination to do more than what the lecturers are expecting...sighed..well, students are always like that kan..Cabaran untuk warga pendidik la juga ni.

In the schedule actually i have class at 2.15pm - 3.15pm. Right after the Rest Operation. But i'll only start teaching after the mid sem break. A bit difference with the the previous college i was attached because here lecturers are sharing teaching the subject. Sharing means, teaching the same class. In particular, the first lecturer teach the subject before the mid sem break. Second lecturer teach after the break. Lebih kurang begitu la. Other things are same such as rancangan mengajar, test, quizzes..etc.

I think i really need a good rest tonight..sangat penat. O ya..To Nc, sia ada gambar meow meow yang sentiasa ada di cafe kolej. Setiap kali kami p sana, mesti ada. Nah ni gambar durang.:

Weekend in JB

It’s Sunday. My first Sunday in JB. We went to a place named Plentong for a Sunday prayer. Since i’m new (compared to my 3 Sabahan’s friends who have been here for almost a month) here, I’ve still no idea where else I can go for Sunday prayer. So, I just follow them to the Catholic Church in Plentong, St. Joseph Church. To my surprise, when we went inside the church, there were many faces with Sabahan’s look. Suddenly I felt like at home. Yes, many of them were Sabahans. Siap nyanyi satu lagu gospel bahasa Dusun lagi.

My days here are not complete without tears. (too bad, even I pray harder, I’m still emotionally weak!) And inside the church, there I go again! It was because there were a family with a baby girl sitting right in front of the row where me and friends sitting. Suddenly, my tears dropped when the baby girl look at me and smile! Oh, don’t do that to me cutie! She made me crying! I can’t explain how I miss my little prince. My plan to balik Sabah is still far ahead. I thought a new staff is automatically entitled for the 25 days annual leave but its not. It is calculated after the month ended (2 days leave every month). Just like the system used by the previous company I was attached. So, I’ve to forget my plan to balik kampong early month of March. Only been here for about three weeks but thinking to go home already? Believe me, if u’re in my shoes you’ll do the same especially when you are apart from your little baby and hubby!

Three of my friends are going back to Sabah on this 6^th March because 9^th March is holiday. Me can not join. So, my planning is to go to Batu Berendam Melaka, at my brothers’ place. But plans will change when the time comes.

Life without my beloved Baby Yong2 and hubby is soooo gloomy especially when the night comes, I’m alone in my bed. Tears are never hesitate to drop and pretty enough to make my pillow get wet. Nevertheless, if you meet and stay with friends that are very caring and loving, the feeling will a little bit lessen. I’ve really learnt that CARING and SHARING are the two words that powerful enough to relieve a gloomy heart. Sometimes, we cried together but we choose to laugh a lot and make our days occupied. So, the mind is not too busy thinking about family back home. Another way that we do to be occupied is watching movies all day long if we don’t go to anywhere. Last night we watched Beverly Hills Chihuahua. In the list next weekend are BIGSTAN movie. Playing games is not exempted too. I responsible to make my two friends stay awake till 1am just to try to finish the Stage 7, TUMBLEBUGS game. Hahahahaa!!!

Hmm..tomorrow is Monday. I’ll be one of the lecturers to observe students preparing food in the kitchen and after that presenting the food at the Baiduri Restaurant…hehhe..makan free lagi bisuk! Hotel standard lagi tu. Siap dengan waiters and waitress (students themselves). Jom kawan2, join sa makan free!..kekekee..

Alright, I guess its time to give my body and soul a good rest. I wanna go to sleep now. Hopefully my night will be a peaceful one. (NO TEARS PLEASEE!!!)

Rose Cottage

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

So happy today i got online . Where? hihii..If u are away from ur hometown, internet is the fastest way to stay connect to ur loved ones and family and friends. So, today me and friends heading to Rose Cottage, just about 20 minutesfrm the house that we rent to use this inn free WIFI. Check in? not necessarily. We just park our car outside the cottage and there we enjoy the free WIFI! hehehhe..but limited to the life of battery that i think only could last for 45 minutes. But at least, i've done the things that i want to do. And i better shorten my entry before my laptop 'tidur'..

Waiting for next monday for free WIFI again!

Jalan Jalan

Horaaay..tomorrow is weekend! This is my first weekend here. Well, of course it will be different with the weekend that i used to have in Sabah (w/out baby and hubby)..sighed..

We are planning to go Jalan-jalan in JB Town tomorrow. So, not sure what will we do and see.

Greetings from Poli JB

Hi nc, pam,val, gracie, nadia,tan, sal and Cat.

I'm doing 50/50 fine here..how is that? Hehee..sure u all know what happen to me now. HOMESICK! HOMESICK! HOMESICK! and this is only my second day here.. TOOOOOOOO many stories to tell but i think i just don't know where to start. Last night, i couldn't sleep. I kept thinking of my baby. I cried almost an hour till my nose blocked. Even at office when sharing with the other lecturers who are in the same boat with me, we dropped tears. Lucky me because i have friends that caring and very helpful here. Cuma sedikit berbeza dengan orang Sabah la. But still gratefull.

On my arrival yesterday, my two Sabahans friend welcome me. Suddenly i felt at home juga la coz ada orang Sabah yang sambut sa dekat gate kolej. After that melapor diri di admin office and then ke office Jabatan Hospitaliti. And there, i met with other Sabahans. Grateful again. Nothing much i did yesterday. Chit Chat and meeting new colleagues till 5pm.

And today, we had an early morning briefing by the Dept Head. I was surprised because i was being asked to introduced myself in front of 38 staff in the dept..hehehe..nasib sa dapat maintain ayu..kakakkaaa..padahal kawan2 lain yg baru nda pun kena begitu. Special case kunu sa cos saturang sa sampai paling last..

Now, i'm still waiting for my teaching schedule. I requested for tourism subjects since my teaching xperience is in this field but they give me hotel subject as well. So, here i will teach both hotel and tourism subjects.

Since i'm still free, my dept head assigned me a special task already that is to be his assistant..adoi..tiba2 ja..so i'll help him to do some academic job like doing summary for certain modul for student used..ewah, ewah..mcm sa mo buat thesis pla ni. And at 3.30 today, i'll be his secretary for a short meeting with a senior lecturer. Something new for me but i'll take the challenge! Still, wanna thanks ACIC because provided me the opportunity to gain experience in the education field.

For now, only this that i can share. I'll write again when time allows. O ya, i'm using my friend's laptop to go online because my internet connection is having some problem. I miss Mr. Azfar because the IT staff here can't solve my problem...sighed... AZFAR, TOLONG SIAA!!!!! (Nc, ko gtau Azfar a..heheheh).

P/S: takut2 mo online selalu, nanti kena cakap pla staff baru online ja.

Back to work again..

Aduhh..so lazy today. Since there is no lecture today, i've been sitting on my cosy chair, surfing internet, blogging, facebook-ing and friendster-ing and made my chair warm all day long! I'm pretty sure all the germs that living in my chair pengsan mati sudah kena panas..hihiii..

And its 3.30pm already and i still didn't touch any office work. Huahuahua..! Today, i've decided to be a real unproductive worker! Azam ni tau..mo makan gaji buta hr ni..kuangkuang..

BTW, what you guys did during the 4 days off-work?

Me? Of course went back to my favorite destination ever: Kg. Lokoton, Kudat. My very peaceful village. So happy to be there at every chance i have. But this time, only me and my lil Yong Yong @ Daniel, my 9 months son. Sad, because hubby can't join. Have to be very patient if you married a hotel's staff. I mean, very small chance to get leave during Public Holiday (PH) because usually that's the time hotel is full house or high occupancy. Yeah, full house means, full complaints as well. That's why its not easy to get ur leave application approved..

Going back to kampung is always my first choice if given a choice where to go during PH. And having a strong reason nowadays because my lil Yong Yong needs to be familiarized with his grandmas and grandpas, nieces and nephews at Kampung. I don't want him to be familiar with only relatives from my hubby's sides..thanks God, he is learning.

The time has comes to say goodbye

Finally, today has comes, my last working day in ACIC. Different kind of feeling suddenly comes over to my mind.

* Sad - leaving all my great friends here, sure i will miss the moments that we had shared through the years that has passed. Besides, i'll miss the internet freedom i've had here and the way we reacted when the line suddenly no internet connection. Will the people in my new office will react the same? Maybe no more this words: "Anu, panjat!" to refresh the internet line!

excited - i'll be in a new environment by next week or the week after. Not sure what kind of people attitude that i will confront. But SABAH BOLEH ba..be it monster, snake, firefly, fly @lalat, cicak, buaya..semua boleh masuk punya..environmental friendly ba ini..hahhaa..-lesson learned!


So, my dear blog and all my dear blogger's friends, my home will be in 'sleep mode' till everything is settle overthere in JB. I will miss u!

This is a belated entry. It supposed to be posted yesterday (right after the incident).

Its about an incident happened to me after my lecture yesterday's afternoon. After reading you decide in what categories this incident should be. I'm not sure how to start but i think this will work:

Conversation between me and a student.

Me: AKMAL (student)!!!! (dengan nada menjerit terkejut sebab terdengar bunyi sesuatu terkoyak).

Student: Kenapa Miss, kenapa Miss? Sampai dia ulang dua kali sebab terkejut tiba2 sa jerit nama dia.

Me: Koyak!! Dengan muka ntah tak tau camana nak cakap.

Student: Apa yang koyak Miss? Muka hairan tapi tersengih.

Me: Seluar! Sambil tangan meraba bahagian bawah 'buntuts' dan terasa tangan menyentuh kulit sendiri juga. Adoii..apa la..seluar sa terkoyak pasal tersangkut dekat bahagian tajam dihujung whiteboard dalam kelas tu.

Student: Haa..macamana boleh koyak Miss? Nda pa Miss, sa sporting juga. Rileks Miss, rileks. Sa cover Miss dari belakang. Wahh, concern ni budak ni. Dia nampak panik juga bila tengok sa nda bergerak dari kedudukan sa sejak tadi.

Me: Adoii..gila ni. Spontaneously, i took off my blazer and wear it on my waist (ala mcm kalau kita tak mo pakai tu sweater kita ikat di pinggang kan). Automatically the 'hole' yang koyak covered la.

Student: Macam mana Miss? Okey? Sambil dia tengok sa dengan muka bersimpati..

Me: Okey sudah ni. Boleh jalan sudah balik ofis. Dengan muka maintain dan pura2 rileks sa angkat laptop dan kertas nota, berjalan secepat mungkin balik ofis diikuti oleh tu student di belakang. On the way to the office beberapa students yang memang selalu ada di koridor kolej tegur tapi sia nda berapa peduli. Mau cepat2 sampai office.

Adedeh..what an incident la happen to me yesterday. So miserable la me. Luckily during the unlucky incident, only one student left to help me packing the LCD projector that i used for lecturing. Back to the office, i told my collegues about it and they also LOL listening to my story. They even took a look at the 'koyak part' of my pants...hahahahaa..

Then, i called my hubby to fetch me up. Nda kan sa mo naik bas dengan seluar koyak..Nasib dia la dia free. Tapi sempat juga kasi ketawa sia pasal incident tu. heiyaa..

So to friends outhere, especially si Cikgu Nadia , hehehhe, hati2 ye bila masuk kelas, perhatikan betul2 sudut2 tajam ka, paku ka. Mana tau silap haribulan macam sa, tersangkut seluar dan koyak..malu ehh..nasib tu student sa kan yang bagus punya...

Condolence

Around 2pm today, we (i and officemates) got to know one of our ex-student passed away two weeks ago..(May his soul rest in peace).

Terkejut juga dengan berita yang baru diterima. Tetapi akur dengan hukum alam, semua yang hidup akan kembali kepada-Nya.

Namun, apa yang membuat saya sedih, pelajar berkenaan pernah menjadi pelajar saya. Ketika dia masih belajar, kerap juga saya dan beberapa lecturer lain mengikuti perkembangan kesihatannya yang semakin memburuk. Kami juga sebenarnya tidak jelas apa penyakit yang dihidapinya. Namun, selepas seketika kami terlupa untuk terus mengikuti perkembangannya dan hanya mendengar berita bahawa dia sudah tiada. Ayahnya datang ke kolej sebentar tadi membawa sijil mati anaknya dan mungkin datang dengan tujuan menguruskan pinjaman PTPTN.

Walaupun ahli keluarganya mungkin tidak akan terbaca catatan ini, saya tetap mengucapkan TAKZIAH buat mereka sekeluarga. Semoga mereka tabah menghadapai apa yang telah berlaku.

Berita ini membuat saya selalu sedar bahawa nyawa kita bila-bila sahaja akan dicabut dari badan oleh-Nya. Tidak kisah la kita menghidap penyakit teruk atau tidak, atau kita sekarang kita sihat-bugar kalau sudah tiba masa, kita akan meninggalkan dunia ini.

JADI..

Untuk diri sendiri dan semua kawan2, sementara masih hidup dengan riang gembira ni, jom la kita berbuat baik banyak2, sembahyang banyak (walaupun kadang2 ter-miss..hehhe), kurangkan kontroversi tingkatkan prestasi! (Pinjam Melodi punya cogankata...hihi).

Dengan itu,..adioss!! Biiiiisuk kita jumpa lagi!

Just a short entry today. My mind is occupied with too many things..will do the 'award' tag 2mrow.
O yeah..class started already. Had one this morning but didn't give the students full lecture. From 24 students, only 10 turned up. ..biasa budak2 ni..masih honeymoon lg tu fikiran...tomorrow have one at 8.30am..the subject that i don't really ..hihi..nda pa la..demi anak bangsa..tetap ku ajar juga mereka..
